| The akabuq is the first venture into the book-making process for akamundo. Again we find the themes of individual units combining to create a greater whole. In this case, the pages are the units, each personalized by a message or text which combine to create the final product. The original akabuq concept was developed as a commemorative piece for a 70th birthday. Messages, thoughts, and pictures where solicited from family and friends and then translated into a custom format, giving emphasis to important words and phrases. The akabuq transcends traditional book format by becoming an object of aesthetic value as well as an information storage device. It is currently being developed by akamundo into a customizable handmade product that will be available for purchase. Click here for more |
| Products+Design: Continuing the process of translating visual material into or onto functional objects. The result is a collection of commercial products available for purchase. Click here for more |
